At the 2012 NAMM Show, Roland and Fender announced the GC-1 GK-Ready Stratocaster guitar as one of the V-Guitar series, am electric guitar that can be directly connected to the GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer and VG-99 V-Guitar System.

Combining an authentic Stratocaster guitar and a special Roland divided pickup with a 13-pin output; the GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 can be used with both standard guitar equipment and Roland V-Guitar category products like the GR-55 and VG-99.

To harness this power, Roland developed the GK Divided Pickup, a special pickup that allows each of a guitar’s strings to be processed independently. Connecting a GK-Ready guitar to the GR Guitar Synthesizer or V-Guitar System opens up a world of options, including instant alternate tunings, transforming the guitar sound into another instrument entirely, and more.

To help identify and define these advanced products, Roland has created a new category called “V-Guitar” that will include all the 13-pin compatible products including VG-/VB-99, GR-55 and divided pickups, as well as the VG Stratocaster and GK-Ready Stratocaster.

The GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 takes Fender’s iconic and cherished guitar and builds in a Roland GK Divided Pickup and a 13-pin output for connecting to the Guitar Synthesizer and V-Guitar System. The instrument’s intuitive control panel also includes a knob and switches that allow the player to control various functions of 13-pin compatible devices directly from the guitar, as well as blend the guitar’s normal pickups with the GK-driven sound.

As a guitar, the GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 is a 100% authentic Fender Strat guitar. It features a solid contoured body, maple neck (with rosewood or maple fingerboard), three single-coil pickups with 5-way switching, a synchronised tremolo bridge, a 3-ply pickguard, and chrome hardware.

The GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 is available in a classic sunburst finish with a rosewood fingerboard, or a black finish with a maple fingerboard.

Distributed exclusively by Roland, the GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 will be available in March 2012.

Combining Roland’s COSM modelling with Fender’s classic Stratocaster guitar, the VG Stratocaster G-5 gives players instant alternate tunings, a wide selection of electric, acoustic and 12-string guitar models and more.

The 20 sounds onboard the VG Stratocaster G-5 include Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster, humbucking, 12-string, acoustic models, and ‘cutting-edge’ sounds plus five alternate tunings.

A Mode Control knob selects one of five distinct modelling modes, while the Tuning Control knob allows players to apply alternate tunings such as open G, drop D, baritone, and others to any currently selected model. In addition, a digital reverb effect is available when an acoustic model is selected.

The VG Stratocaster G-5 is based on Roland’s COSM guitar modelling, the same tone technology found in the VG-99 V-Guitar System and GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer. The onboard COSM engine offers the player a variety of different guitar sounds, including unique “ideal-performance” pickups, such as a humbucker with ultra-wide range and a single coil with full, bold tone at their fingertips, available simply by adjusting the familiar Stratocaster knobs and 5-way pickup selector switch.

The . . . → Read More: DigiTech Intros iStomp Programmable Effects Pedal]]> At the 2012 NAMM Show, DigiTech announced the iStomp pedal, a guitar stompboxe that lets you program the effect pedal with any sound you want – and change it at any time.

The iStomp connects to an iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad, enabling musicians to load the effect of their choice into the iStomp.

The iStomp pedal connects to an Apple iOS device using the DigiTech Smart Cable that comes with the iStomp. Once connected, the DigiTech StompShop provides two of the most popular requested effects, the DigiTech Total Recall Delay and the DigiTech Redline Overdrive with the initial purchase.

The app also offers access to additional effects that iStomp owners can browse, try out, and purchase for their stompbox. The iStomp pedal has four knobs to control effects parameters, which change their function according to which effect is loaded.

iStomp makes trying out new sounds easier, too. Instead of having to go to a music store or look for online demos that might have been done with unfamiliar gear, a guitarist can try any pedal in the iStomp online store for free for up to 10 minutes – in their own home, using their own guitar and amp. Approximately 24 pedals will be offered initially, and the selection will expand to include exclusive pedals from DigiTech, officially licensed pedals from other manufacturers and classic legacy DigiTech and DOD products.

Multiple iStomp pedals can be authorized to the same iTunes account, allowing customers to purchase an effect once from the in-app store, and then load it into any iStomp pedal registered to them. All purchases are saved within the app, making it easy to build up a wide ranging effects collection.

The DigiTech iStomp will begin shipping in January 2012 at $229.95 suggested retail. The iStomp pedal comes with an iOS authorization cable, power supply and the two initial downloads. Additional downloads are available starting at $4.99 each.
